I remember, when I was young, a boy named Mukesh used to live next-door. He used to tell me how he dreams of becoming rich and one day having a whole building to himself in the heart of Mumbai. I dreamt of the same thing. I mean, I dreamt of having a whole building to myself, not Mukesh.
His dream was not his alone; it was mine as well. But he went on to help his father in business and I went to an advertising agency. Sigh! At least he must be doing well for himself.
The other day I spotted this hoarding by Union Bank and I was reminded of my friend Mukesh and his dream.
But what I really don't understand is how the unfulfilled dream of Ajit Tendulkar is connected to Union Bank!
I mentioned this to one of my disciples and he said that I have got it all wrong and I need to improve my English. I told him that since I am a public figure, improving anything is detrimental to my image; therefore it is the bank that needs to improve their English.
I am skipping dinner over this. And no dinner for my disciple either. About time he improves his behavior.
Jai Frank Jefkins, Jai Hind.

The copy talks about Ajit Tendulkar's dream (as a father) of Sachin being the best batman, not he himself!! So, his dream isn't unfulfilled! The ad then further goes to show how UB is similarly concerned about our dreams.
ReplyDeletePlease don't skip your dinner over a billboard. It isn't that bad. Maybe just the dessert ;)
Also, your friend Mukesh might have got the majestic towering home he dreamt of but it's still sitting empty! He cites bad vastu as the reason. Doh!! Perhaps they should've considered vastu after the first 10 floors, maybe!?
Annaji, With disciples like yours who needs opponents? When you dream of errant disciples being punished, so do I... but I don't mean your errant disciples and I think that is what you mean by your outburst. But while the cricketer dreams of playing cricket, the relatives mostly dream about modelling... I don't mean the relatives model, they dream that the cricketer becomes a model... Holy Bramha! This is getting more complicated than vakrachakraasan... I'll stand on my head for sometime and get my blood reach my brain... By the way... I dreamt last night that I had withdrawn all my money from Union Bank... When I saw that dream, were you seeing it too????
ReplyDeleteBaba, as my dear friend Einstein used to say, fame is 'relative' ;)
ReplyDeleteAbout your dream. If I would have that dream, my account was well would have been empty by now! So, no. That one is completely yours...
Dear Teenage Dream, Ajit is his brother and I have met him once or twice. Very down to earth person. I don't believe what Mukesh is doing with his dream! Bad vaastu, apparently! I wish that dream was mine and mine alone. ;)
ReplyDeleteOMG! My bad! Ramesh Tendulkar..of course. Too many sweets make my head go fuzzy..anyhoo, I still think the copy is meant that way. As an elder brother's dream for his younger bro.
